Look what just happened while preparing renderbatches.... again. And again.




And of course it never showed up while I was working on it. I had to "hard" reload it to recognize it. Looks like another two or three days wasted. I my I just love it.

I need to be fair tough. Im using that program for more then five years now, and this bug is the only bug that caused any loss of data. It still could be worse =)

Wow,
I just realized that I really, really, really finished the production of visual contents for "Streifen". That includes all fixes and even some "Bonus Materials". "Streifen" became (regarding the circumstances) a quite lengthy feature.

Wow,
for the first time since early 2005 I recognize that I have "nothing on schedule" anymore. It feels totally weird. And it feels good even tho I finally recognize how old and exhausted I am feel (never allowed myself to feel like that before).

However, I am all but finished with my work and
-I just started to equip my laptop with needed software and samples for the SFX production (it's only 10ish month until next eurofurence- I really really hope I can make that).
-contacted the few remaining music-folks.
-will accelerate the progress with the nice folks willing to do the voice acting

I realize that most of "Streifen"s pro- and success now is in the hand of others. Not mine anymore. Now it's just prayers and hopes and SFX. Anyway: "Streifen" is going to be a great movie. No doubt about that.


...and you know what?

I am -still- hungry. I told you how tired and old I feel but -still- I am hungry.
And if it would not be for "Streifen"s soundeffects I would already sit in front of my freshly installed version of blender (No I am not going to use my current software package anymore)

-and start with more detailled charactermodelling for "panzer o1" (Akin, Athena, Grimmer, Paul, Taibu).
-and flesh out the script for that movie.
-and would be already recording guidetrakcs for the voicerecordings.
-and sketch like a manica for the storyboard. Darn I got the complete thing in my mind, gotta get it out of that vault.

Man, "panzer o1"'s going to be a great movie.

For the first time since I am writing stories it happened to me that one of "my" concepts showed up in someone elses work before I could even think about publishing it.
It's been a movie and it kinda "jinxed" what was (and still is) the core concept of "panzer o1", the followup to "Streifen".

Well I do not complain. Ideas have a live of their own. And if one announcer fails in announcing it, someone else will take care for that. Actually there is some solace in that insight, isent't it?

What else is new? Well, first screenings of "Streifen" are doing -much- better as I expected. I hope it will keep staying like that. Ppl also pointed out that "Streifen" has many TRONish characteristics. Oh, really? I feel so honoured. Really =)

A few days ago I've seen one of those WW2 reports that became very popular here on TV these days (20 years anniversary of the fall of the berlin wall)

The report showed war cruels, tanks, weapons, dead soldiers and more cruelties. And I saw a soldier just picking up a woman on a Truck. The women had a toddler trying to follow her. A toddler in the age of my elder son. The soldier did not even bother with that child. The child was running around frantically to get back to his mother and... finally fell down. Picture faded out.

It's three days ago and I still can not forget that picture from the TVscreen.

May the lord have mercy. For all of us.

Hah. I found a moment to use ballpen on A4 again. Just a few minutes but hey.

Those skribbles had a purpose. I needed them as part of an Triptychon an for an altar (sortof). Again its roughly skribbeled but its done like that on purpose. Imorgon never had time to spend much time on such...
Ballpen, without any guidelines, constructions or whatsover. Done in less then a minute each to channel them properly.




I admire that look. And it fits to the character or Imorgon. I just admire the look of sketched und unplugged works. Do you? ;)

They will be part of a setup and be seen as large monolithic structures.

Flu is playing tricks on me. Terrible headache and fever that comes and goes. However, it seems I am one of those typical "light" cases. Well it could be lighter on me tho ;)





What else is new?

I have been contacted by a pretty interesting person. A person that might be willing to help me out with one of the major issues with the movie. However it's -way- to early for details since I have not even a vague confirmation. I just have to wait and see. However, its been a nice contact so far =)

I'm still casting voicetalents and found so far:

Pan as voice for "Idag" (confirmed)
Lupo as voice for "Igar" (not confirmed)
Reesa as voice for "Hope" (not confirmed)

I am still dealing details for voiceacting with };{,  Cheetah and Taibu. Oh well. I still have high hopes to lure all of them 0=)

Blahblahblah *cough* *cough* *cough* and... yes, I avoided (yet) to infect the rest of my family =)

Argh.... this morning I woke up and just felt dizzy. I know.. something is going on and thats not too good.

Just called my boss to tell him that I won't show up today. Swineflu already? Well Im riding the train everyday, I hang out in lounges everyday. Not unlikely tho. However, I am going to move my bed into the boilerroom. There is light, it is warm... and there is no baby that will be endangered to get infected too.

Actually two of those

First: Today was the fist time EVAR that my 3D software made something -reaaally- cool. And that without any purpose. Wow. Just afeter almost six years passed by.

Second: A youg lady (apperently a studend of technology/informatics) wished my a good day when I was leaving the train. And she said: "Wow, thats -really- cool what you are doing there. I mean it. Really cool"

Well I hardly ever get compliments on my work and sometimes I even thinkg I am immune against then. But this one, so surprising,  is highly apreciated =)

Well rendering goes fast. Very fast indeed.

Howevere there a quite a few strange incidents that make me a bit unhappy these days.

One is that I have the tendency to oversee minor settings that can (however) f#ck up a whole scene. So Taibu just rendered a scene three days long... for the trashcan.
Well? I just re-re-re-recheck now for that special issue..

The other issue comes with renderfarming and the distribution of memory between those rendernodes... by god, I wish I would use a packet that would be able to multitask -consistently-

Now I have to bugger around with errors and glitches that can hardly be reproduced at all. Oh well, I am used to it. It stoll goes along well =)

I am asking myself  "what am I", I always get the same answer: "You are a painter." But  I do not practice the craft anymore. That's quite frustrating but  I have had my reasons...

Well, My experiences with furry people and customers where always the same: Most of them can not deal with -art- itself. They behave like childish kids with even more childish preferences. Seemingly all they can deal with are trivial, dull, selfrepeating and contentfree illustrations. In fact even the prospering and wealthier ones  hardly can tell the difference between an oilpainting and a simple xerox.

A quote by a friend:

Just now I just stumbled over this link. Actually this I haven't found a -single- piece of furry illustration that actually moved me in any meaningful way since... well 1999.  However, This one did:

I watched over it and suddenlyI felt myself standing right in front of a movie-theater, gazing right at this picture. I felt that it was a poster of the upcoming "Serengeti" movie. I felt a cold winter-night. I felt the snow on my shoulders. I coud even sense the smell of freshly prepared popcorn.

Of course that piece is not entirely perfect and there are a few issues with it. But none the less: That piece is adorable. It has expression and a story to tell... and, wow,  it made it to this prominent place. 
So, after all,  popular furry art does not have to be -that- totally trivial anymore in order get recognized.  I dofeel proud for the board-peoples to have chosen that exceptional piece.

Actually I do not have much time to post here. I am still putting together scenes for Taibu. Of course I review them. I am happy that the most of them fulfill me with confidence. I mean... don't take me wrong, I am an amateur, but most of them are certainly "well enough".

Just in case some of you people here are still interested into "Streifen 2.0" " aka "Stripes" here is a little bit new info:

Currently I am in the last stages of cleaning up. I am also packing together "Batch-Jobs" for Taibus super-computer.  Its all optimized by now (more or less) and I really did what I could concerning cleaning up -all those- animations.
I realized that... Its a -sh*tload- of material.

And the cast? Well they are still doing fine =)



This is an example you might not see in the final movie. These shados are quite kinky but they ar also a HELL to render.
I do consider to render a "light-version" (without those shades). And try to go for a shaded scene if we have a surplus in resources. Oh well.

There is a question that bothers me constantly and.. I have no current answer to it. So I thought it might be a good idea to ask poeple who stumble upon this post:

Regarding my current timeschedule I do lack the time to get that movie shown to interested poeple (Indy-festivals) and stuff.
I mean: *of course* I would be willing to show it but the amount of research for that is beyond everything I can do now.

My question: Is there -anyone- out there who has a little bit of expecience regarding "distribution" or just showin/screening movies on small festivals, cons etc? I mean contacts or poeple willing to contribute or assist with that effort?

Any reply is gratefully apreciated ;)

To all of you who wished me best of luck with that dammned drivers-license:

It failed. I admid this is one of the most demotivating things that happened to me since... I last the first time I failed (thats 21 years ago).

Ironicaly It happened the same way as in the first time: On the way home because of a maneuvere I -never- had been trained on. And like twenty years ago  all available budget is spent and I can not continiue "just like that".I am quite pissed (although  I am used to not own a license) and it feels like being 18 again with all the bullshit and demons going around. It feels like a old curse that (sort of) ruined a funnier artsi-career since, without a car, I was never able to arrange proper exhibitions. Oh well ;P

But shit. I -need- that license. I really really need it for my family.

Yesterday I went to theater again. I watched "G.I. Joe" whoa...

Well I won't complain. That has been one -solid- actionflic. Decent development, a large dose of "X-man" and some orignal effects. However, watching movies like that show me that I'm getting to old for all of that. It is impossible to follow.... ALL OF THIS. Still, thats a -lot- of movie for just one movie

What impressed me much mure, however, was the trailer of the latest shamalayan movie (my favourite director anyway). What impressed me so much that the ending sequence of that trailer looked exactly like a dream I had a few month ago. I mean -literally- exactly. Those ships and the slow decenting missiles of fire. Wow. Don't know what to say about that. Wus I timetravelling? =)
